The Origins Studies minor is geared towards training new students in the field of origins with the ultimate purpose of creating new researchers in the field of Origins Studies. The Origins Studies minor is designed to be interdisciplinary and support multiple programs. In general, it will foster critical thinking and integrated and cooperative learning in the students, which fulfills the educational objectives of many programs on campus. It should also inspire students to continue learning about Origins Studies in their chosen majors.

___ Choose one elective: HEB 212 Elements of Hebrew II, BIO 345 Biodiversity & Biosystemstics, or other course approved by the director of CORE
You must fulfill the other requirements for a major and for graduation in order to earn a minor.
You must earn at least 8 hours of the minor at Bryan College.
No grade lower than C- may be counted towards the minor.
At least 6 hours must be in courses NOT overlapping with major courses. For Biblical Studies majors, HEB 211 and 212 overlap. For biology majors, BIO 317 overlaps, and BIO 345, 400, and 490 could overlap also. For all majors, BIB 215 and possibly BIO 314 (as a non-lab science) overlap.
You must fill out an "Application for Minor" form available from the Registrar's office, and have it approved by the Division Chair.

The Independent Research component must be overseen by a committee of at least three faculty members to be chosen by the student, one of which must be a member of the CORE faculty. The subject of the research must be approved by the faculty committee. The project must consist of an original research component and an oral presentation and written report on the results of the project. The faculty committee must attend the oral presentation and be given a copy of the written report.
Any Special Topics counting for elective credit must be approved by the director of CORE.
